Northland Tank and Fab’s ASME Pressure Vessels are used for a wide range of applications, including expansion tanks, hydropneumatic tanks, and filter vessels. Each vessel is built to order based on customer-provided specifications. Available in both horizontal and vertical configurations, these vessels can be supported by legs, saddles, skids, skirts, or shell lugs. A variety of interior linings and exterior coatings are offered, along with optional features such as internal trays, monitoring components, insulation packages, and access ladders or platforms.
Expansion Tanks play a crucial role in heating and cooling systems by managing the thermal expansion and contraction of fluids, such as water or coolant. These tanks absorb excess fluid volume as temperatures rise, helping to stabilize system pressure in the connected piping network.


Hydropneumatic Tanks offer the benefit of providing pressurized water quickly and on demand, so they don’t require the constant use of a pump. In well water applications, they will provide water when a specified pressure range is reached, which prevents the pump from running constantly. When a small amount of water is needed, a hydropneumatic tank can supply it without the need for starting the pump, making the system more efficient and adaptive. In addition, these tanks can also be used in conjunction with booster pumps to bring water when the system is in a period of shutdown.
Filter Vessels contain various types of filter media, including activated carbon, sand, or proprietary materials, to remove suspended solids, iron, manganese, and other particulates from influent water while under pressure. The filter vessel is an integral part of a water treatment system used to deliver potable water to municipalities.
